Scratch and sniff these soundfiles (.wav or .mp3-format) if you want to know what the Virus can sound like.
Ideally theses will be provided by many different people for many different views on the same subject. Right now, these are Canine's and so they sound like Canines.

One important favor I ask of you: if you are thinking of contributiong sounds, please don't email me massive files. toast them to a CD and send them to me via regular mail. Thank you!

Note about the Sounds: Canine makes these sounds available under the statutes of MACOS (Musicians Against Copyrighting Of Samples). If you are a member of MACOS you may use these sounds (even for commercial projects) provided that you make the final project available as a MACOS project.

A lot of Windows users have been experiencing problems with scrambled MP3 files, caused by Netscape navigator. There is a simple solution to fix scrambled mp3 files. A free little DOS program called "UNCOOK.EXE", which weighs in at a whopping 9K, will fix netscape scrambled mp3's in only a few seconds. A search with any engine should turn it up, or I can mail it to you if you'd rather. Alternatively, you could just grab it from the download section of my (unfinished and unupdated) page at http://www.umbc.edu/~bthomp1.

SOUNDS This is from a track I am working on pre-mix phase and demonstrates some of the sounds I use from the virus for my drum and bass. Only the drum sounds are not from the virus.

A full length MP3 format file. it's almost six minutes long, that should justify the file size. It contains some vocoder, drums, a 303 and different bass sounds. All sounds created by canine on a Virus. track written and produced by canine. Groove your heart out (4800K)
Ever wonder what the "RP" at the end of a lot of the factory presets in the Virus means? Well thaose sounds were made by the sound designer Rob Papen (robpapen@multiweb.nl, check his webpage athttp://http://www.multiweb.nl/~robpapen). Now he brings you even more and even more impressive sounds. THis is his demo track for his set, consisting of 127 singles, and numerous multis (I doubt he used them all in this track though...;) Rob Papen soundset demo (1300K)
To even show you (and the world) what the Vocoder in OS 2.01 sounds like, Frank Katzer (1klang@gmx.net) wrote this song. It's a short piece entitled "Pitch your Drums" and is released on the cover CD of the March issue of the German KEYS magazine. Pitch your drums (990K)
This track is Marc Schlaile's contribution to the Virus community. It's a great pumping track that makes extensive use of the Virus, the Vocoder and lots of other sounds. All sounds except for the drums are made by a Virus. Vocoder Demo (2500K)

An all-Virus groove that made me think of Kraftwerk. kraftbeat.wav (286K)
Scratchy groove with some Drumstation in there again. Guess what the German word for scratch might be. kratzgroove.wav (163K)
